Bungling thieves left a Co-op store in ruins after using trying to remove an ATM machine from the building with a tractor.

The failed theft attempt happened at around 3.20am on Thursday, September 29, at the Co-op store on Donington Market Place.

Offenders tried to remove the ATM from the wall of the shop using a John Deere tractor.

After the theft proved unsuccessful, offenders left the scene in a dark 4×4 flat bed vehicle and a dark blue saloon car.

Police investigations are ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Spalding CID on 101, quoting incident number 27 of September 29.
