Some things never change, and some evolve beyond recognition – as proved in a fascinating video which has emerged of iconic Lincoln scenes 30 years ago.

Youtube channel bonearrowgroup uploaded the short video, which was shot in March 1986, and shows iconic parts of Lincoln city centre.

The video features locations such as Lincoln Cathedral, Steep Hill, Lincoln Castle and Brayford Pool.

The High Street is also featured, with images of a very different row of shops, almost unrecognisable to what we can see today.

Some things, however, don’t change. The swans, for example, could have been filmed today enjoying a swim in their beloved Brayford Pool.

High Street looks completely different, now with a Primark in the place of Littlewoods.

Other plots of land seen in the video now have buildings taking over the city skyline.

Another iconic building, which most of us see as we drive through Lincoln, was not built at the time of this video.

The University of Lincoln’s first campus developments were completed in 1996.

A very different scene to today's modern Brayford Pool.
