Couples planning to tie the knot from 2017 will be able to add the historic Lincoln Castle and The Collection museum to their list of possible wedding venues.

Pending wedding licensing approval in the New Year, Lincolnshire County Council plans to add the scenic castle, The Collection and the Usher Gallery to its Heritage Wedding Venues venture.

From vows in the centre of a former Roman fortress, to photographs atop castle walls, wedding parties will be able to experience the charm and history of the three iconic venues for the first time.

The council has said that prices for the new wedding packages are still being finalised.

Profits would be retained by the heritage service, which will be independent from the council should plans to withdraw funding be approved in 2018.

Charlotte Powell, hospitality and events officer, said: “We’re already hosting weddings at Gainsborough Old Hall, which is a truly breathtaking medieval manor house.

“We’re really excited about giving couples the opportunity to have their special day in three other magnificent heritage buildings in Lincoln next year too.

“We’ll be offering the chance for people to hire Lincoln Castle, the Usher Art Gallery or The Collection Museum for their celebrations.

“We’re also working on creating some attractive wedding packages including delicious and bespoke menus for weddings at the castle.

“We’re expecting our ceremonies licence to come through in the New Year. In the meantime we can already take bookings for reception and parties.”
