Emergency services were called to Cleethorpes Pier following reports from concerns members of the public of a person close to the water.

East Midlands Ambulance Service and the UK Coastguard were contacted about a person believed to be near the water in the area of Cleethorpes Pier.

Cleethorpes and Donna Nook Coastguard Rescue Teams, Humber and Cleethorpes RNLI lifeboats and the UK Coastguard search and rescue helicopter based at Humber were sent to the location.

An extensive and thorough search of the area has been carried out, but there has been no sign of any person in distress or needing assistance.

This comes after members of the public have been warned to stay away from areas close to the sea due a possibility of a storm surge.

Warnings are currently in place along the Lincolnshire coast of flooding during high tide.

Police are urging the public not go thrill seeking with cameras to take pictures of the water coming over flood defences, as the area will be very dangerous.
