As previously reported, a woman was taken to hospital with burns to her leg after the fire on Frodingham Road at 10.20pm on Wednesday, Thursday 8.

Detective Chief Inspector Nicki Miller who is overseeing the investigation said: “We have a team of officers working on this and enquires are very much underway including house to house calls and reviewing CCTV of the area.

“We are treating this incident as a priority as the outcome could clearly have been much more serious.

“The circumstances of the case so far suggest that this was not a random incident and that the people involved are known to each other.

“We would therefore remind and reassure the public that this type of incident is rare and we do not believe there to be cause for wider concern for the community.

“We recognise however that people may be concerned and we are therefore ensuring that additional police patrols are in the in the area providing a visible presence following this incident.

“As we piece together events leading up to the incident we are also appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information.

“If you live or work locally, do you have private CCTV or other relevant footage which may have captured any potentially associated activity in the time frame before and after the incident, between 7pm and 10.30pm?

“If so, or you have any information in connection with this incident, I would urge you to come forward to help us progress the investigation.”
