Find out how much council tax Lincolnshire households will have to pay this year

Households across Greater Lincolnshire will have to tighten their purse strings ever so slightly over the next year to compensate for rises in council tax in the county.

Councils across the county are raising council tax by as much as almost 5% in some cases for the 2017-18 financial year.

Residents in Lincolnshire have their council tax divided between the county council, the district council, any parish or town councils, and the police and crime commissioner.

As unitary authorities, North and North East Lincolnshire Council collect and keep all their council tax, aside from precepts for the police and fire and rescue.

Councils with responsibility for adult social care are able to add an extra precept of 3% onto existing council tax.

The government has also allowed district councils to increase council tax by £5 for a Band D property for 2017-18.

Below is a breakdown of the council tax rises for each local authority in the region:

Lincolnshire County Council

• Council tax will rise by 3.95%
• This is broken down into a 1.95% council tax rise, plus a 2% adult social care precept
• The council’s share of tax is now £1,173.42 for Band D properties, a rise of £44.59

Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner

• Council tax will rise by 1.97%
• The PCC’s share of tax is now £205.47 for Band D properties, a rise of £3.96

City of Lincoln Council

• Council tax will rise by 1.91%
• The council’s share of tax is now £259.38 for Band D properties, a rise of £4.86

North Kesteven District Council

• Council tax will rise by 3.3%
• The council’s share of tax is now £154.80 for Band D properties, a rise of £4.95

South Kesteven District Council

• Council tax will rise by 2.7%
• The council’s share of tax is now £135.68 for Band D properties, a rise of £4

West Lindsey District Council

• Proposals for a 2.52%. rise are to be discussed by the full council on March 6

East Lindsey District Council

• Proposals for a 3.9% rise are to be discussed by the full council on March 8

Boston Borough Council

• Council tax will rise by 2.86%
• The council’s share of tax is now £178.29 for Band D properties, a rise of 9p a week or just over £4.50 a year

South Holland District Council

• Council tax will rise by 3.12%
• The council’s share of tax is now £164.84 for Band D properties, a rise of £5

North East Lincolnshire Council

• Council tax will rise by 4.98%
• This is broken down into a 1.98% council tax rise, plus a 3% adult social care precept
• The council’s share of tax is now £1,681.86 for Band D properties, a rise of £72.01

North Lincolnshire Council

• Council tax will rise by 3.99%
• This is broken down into a 0.99% council tax rise, plus a 3% adult social care precept
• The council’s share of tax is now £1,351.18 for Band D properties, a rise of £51.84

Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner

• Council tax will rise by 1.9%
• The PCC’s share of tax is now £187.33 for Band D properties, a rise of £3.66
