Inspector Simon Heads, head of the Regional Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“At the moment this is still a rescue operation and the fire service is working to extricate a casualty trapped in the wreckage.

“We’re appealing for any eyewitnesses to the collision to get in contact with us.

“We’re keen to hear from anyone who was travelling on the A1 southbound at the time who happened to have a dash cam that captured the collision.”

Anyone with any information are asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 137 of March 9.
