An ex-military officer will now be spotted on the streets of Boston to issue fines to anyone committing anti-social behaviour.

Staff from 3GS, Boston Borough Council’s enforcement partner, will be issuing Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) to residents and visitors caught dropping litter, as well as other offences.

They will be covering a range of anti-social activities such as:

  • Dropping litter
  • Smoking-related rubbish
  • Urinating
  • Spitting
  • Failure to clean up after a dog

Their officer, Justin, accompanied volunteers on the four days of the Big Boston Clean Up to build up an understanding of the sort of issues he would face, and was also in town last week prior to the start on Monday, April 24.

A spokesperson for Boston Borough Council said: “The impact of them being visible in the town and surrounding villages will hopefully lead to a dramatic reduction in this type of behaviour which will benefit the borough and its image.

“Justin issued 15 FPNs in the first day and a half. All for discarded cigarette ends. All culprits gave their details which were checked and found to be genuine. All were given an on-the-spot FPN to pay £75 for littering.”
