Former Lincoln Chicken Cottage to open as Mad Turk restaurant this week

Turkish cuisine: The owners of a new Turkish restaurant in Lincoln are getting ready to open the doors.

A new Turkish restaurant is set to open its doors on April 6 in Lincoln following a complete makeover of the former Chicken Cottage on Wigford Way.

The Mad Turk, named after a Turkish children cartoon character, will serve traditional Turkish dishes from breakfast to dinner and can seat between 70 and 90 people.

The restaurant will be open from 10am everyday. The move has also created 13 new jobs.

Owner of the new establishment Kubilay Yilmaz has made a significant investment to give the building a traditional Turkish feel.

Previously he has been a chef in five star star hotels and says he is able to cook more than 200 different types of starters.

So far Mr Yilmaz has opened 11 restaurants and takeaways across the country and this is the first time he has come to Lincoln.

Mr Yilmaz said: “Our main menu is charcoal grill kababs, which is the traditional way, like you do on a BBQ.

“It will proper chargrilled food which is very tender and we have Mezzas too.

“Everything is cooked by our chefs on site.

“I want people to come in and look around and say, ‘I feel like I’m in Turkey’. You don’t need to travel all the way to Turkey because I have brought the taste here,” Mr Yilmaz added,

“We are in Lincoln because we know that the city is expanding. We just want to be apart of it and bring traditional Turkish to Lincoln and represent our nation.”
