Innovative thinkers and idea weavers from Lincolnshire are being encouraged to sign up to the county’s first TEDx event at The Collection museum in Lincoln.
TEDxBrayfordPool will take place on Saturday, October 28, bringing together leading thinkers and doers to share ideas and knowledge on Lincoln’s past, present and future.
TED is a global community that explores disciplines from science and technology to entertainment, design and business by bringing together inspirational speakers in the spirit of changing attitudes with the power of ideas.
A TEDx event is a local gathering where live TED-like talks and videos previously recorded at TED conferences are shared with the community.
TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis.
TEDxBrayfordPool coordinator Andy Farenden from Lincoln said: “At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connections.
“Our TEDx event is not organized by TED Conferences, but is operated under a license from TED. We’re excited to be a TEDx licensee and are reaching out to a select group of companies that are committed to the power of ideas to support our TEDx event.
“We want our TEDx to stimulate discussion and catalyse change. Our aim is for TEDxBrayfordPool to showcase the very best, and most current ideas, generated in Lincoln and Lincolnshire, to a global and enlightened audience to inspire change for good.”
The theme of the Lincoln event will be Past. Present. Future. Andy added: “Brayford Pool is the heart of the City of Lincoln, Lincolnshire. It was a Roman port connecting the city to the sea during the reign of Emperor Nero. The north bank was regenerated in the latter twentieth century into a vibrant social hub.
“In the twenty first century, the south bank became home to the thriving University of Lincoln. It represents of the past, present and future of Lincoln as well as the ever-changing flow of ideas.
Tickets for the event will be available from the end of July.
