Grimsby javelin thrower Hollie Arnold breaks own world record to win gold again

Grimsby-born Hollie Arnold has won gold at the World ParaAthletics Championships in London, breaking her own world record in the process.

Hollie beat the world record she achieved at the 2016 Rio Paralympics, throwing a distance of 43.02 metres in the F46 final.

The 23-year-old left-handed thrower has now won her third successive world championship.

She said: “It was great to get the world record. I knew that fourth throw was close but I wasn’t sure if I’d got it.

“The support of the crowd was absolutely amazing.”

Hollie, who was born without her right forearm, grew up in Holton-le-Clay, and attended Cleethorpes Athletic Club.

She went to school at the Cordeaux Academy in Louth.
