Update: Officers interviewed a man in his 40s following this appeal. A spokesperson said the force is no longer seeking assistance identifying the man pictured and thanked the public for their help.

It has been concluded that no sexual offence was committed:

Lincolnshire Police issued an photo appeal to find a man who was filmed allegedly masturbating on Lincoln High Street in broad daylight.

As reported previously, a video began circulating social media filmed by a member of the public who claimed that he was masturbating behind a Primark bag.

Footage showed that his hand was behind carrier bags for a prolonged period while shoppers passed by, but it was unclear what he was doing.

Gemma Cutler posted on Facebook: “This man was doing his business while facing me in [the city centre].

“Does anyone know this person? If you do please tell him he’s on the police radar.”

Police began investigating the reports and asked people to come forward with information and evidence.

Investigating officers have now released an image of the man (above), stating that they wish to speak with him in relation to the incident.

A police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for information to trace the man pictured in connection with an indecent act in Lincoln.

“We were made aware of a report that a man was seen carrying out an indecent act outside the Waterside Shopping Centre last week after a video was circulated on social media.

“An investigation was immediately launched and is continuing. We would like to talk to the man pictured in relation to this indecent. If you recognise him, or have any information you think might assist the enquiry, please contact us.”
