A man has died after he was stabbed in Mablethorpe on Bank Holiday Monday.

Lincolnshire Police have issued a statement confirming that a suspect has been arrested and assuring the public that the attack was not related to terrorism.

The victim, a man in his 30s, died at the scene in the Parry Road area despite efforts of police officers and paramedics to save him.

The stabbing took place just before 1pm on Monday, August 28.

A man in his 40s was arrested by officers within minutes of the attack.

Police said in a statement: “It is with great sadness that we confirm a man in his 30s has died at the scene despite tireless efforts from both police officers and paramedics to save him.

“The victim was stabbed just before 1pm and Taser-armed officers were on the scene within minutes to arrest the offender – a man who is in his 40s.

“This is an isolated incident, we are not looking for anyone else involved and it is not in any way related to terrorism.

“We have secured the scene and please continue to avoid the area. If you heard or saw what happened we urgently need you to call 101 or alternatively report anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

Inspector for Mablethorpe, Phil Baker added: “I would like to reassure local residents that incidents of this nature are exceptionally rare.

“It is critical that anyone who saw what happened or has knowledge about what may have led to this happening gets in touch with us as soon as possible – your information could prove crucial to our investigation.”
