Body on A15 found amid concerns for woman’s safety, police confirm

A 42-year-old man remains in custody.

Police have said they discovered a body this morning after concerns were raised for the safety and whereabouts of a 29-year-old woman from Hull.

As previously reported, the body of a woman was found close to the A15 southbound near the Barton slip road on the morning of Wednesday, September 27.

A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

Detective Superintendent Grainne Casey from Humberside Police’s Major Crime Unit said: “Our officers located the body whilst undertaking enquiries following concerns raised around the safety and whereabouts of a 29-year-old woman from Hull.

“A 42-year-old man, also from Hull, has been arrested in connection with our enquiries.

“The body of the woman, who as yet has not been formally identified, was found shortly before 4am this morning in a wooded area adjacent to a lay-by on the A15 southbound.

“The cause of her death is yet to be determined and a post mortem examination will be conducted in due course.

“A number of additional lines of enquiry are also underway and at present we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the death of the woman.”

A police cordon also remains in place at the scene on the A15 as enquiries continue.
