A driver who was arrested after a serious crash involving four cyclists over the weekend has been released under investigation.

The cyclists were seriously injured in the crash with a VW Scirocco on the A15 at Ashby De La Launde, south of Lincoln at 2.25am on Sunday, September 10.

The cyclists were part of a large organised bike ride travelling to Sleaford.

A 29-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop a short time after the incident.

The driver has now been released under investigation.

Two of the cyclists remain in Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham, in a serious condition. They are both men in their 50s from Essex and Hertfordshire.

Any witnesses who have not already spoken with officers, are asked to call 101, quoting incident number 54 of September 10.
