Green light given for 100 homes on brownfield site in Stamford

Councillors approved the proposals at a planning meeting.

Plans for 100 homes in Stamford have been given the go-ahead by councillors, with developers committed to building over

South Kesteven District Council’s development management committee approved the proposals on brownfield land off Uffington Road at a meeting on Tuesday, October 17.

Councillors approved the plans subject to developers NewRiver Retail Ltd signing a Section 106 agreement for 35 affordable homes, plus the provision of open space and a children’s play area.

The development is on the eastern edge of Stamford, less than a mile from the town centre, and bordering the Morrisons supermarket to the west.

Agents NJL Consulting, speaking on behalf of the developers, said: “The proposed development represents an effective reuse of a vacant industrial site within the built-up area of Stamford.

“The application site represents a suitable and sustainable location for housing, well located to the existing services and facilities in Stamford.

“The proposals have taken into account the site’s location and surrounding context, including Stamford’s historic characteristics, and this has informed the layout and design of the proposals.”
