The Lincoln Knights were celebrated with a silver award at the Community Rail Awards for best marketing campaign after they invaded Kings Cross train station.
Visit Lincoln and Lincolnshire County Council’s Community Rail Partnership attended the award ceremony in Derby and were joined on stage by East Midlands Trains.
“It was a fantastic evening which brought the whole London King’s Cross team together again”, said Charlotte Goy, PR & Marketing Manager at Visit Lincoln.
“Having never entered the awards before, our Lincoln Knights application was a bit of a wild card. It had to compete against eight other nominations for best marketing campaign and we were thrilled when our name was read out.
“We’re already planning what we can do next year, and want to go one better and scoop gold for Lincolnshire”.
Kaye Robinson, Community Rail Officer, said: “The Knights really stood out in King’s Cross and enabled us to get the message out about how easy it is to travel to our wonderful county by train.”
Donna Adams, Stakeholder & Community Rail Manager for East Midlands Trains, added: “The ACoRP Community Rail awards are the pinnacle of the year for community rail, so to receive silver in a hotly contested category is a fantastic achievement and a testament to everyone’s hard work involved”.
The exhibition space at King’s Cross was secured by Lincolnshire County Council’s Community Rail Partnership. Other partners included The National Archives, links to Battles & Dynasties summer exhibition and Domesday Book on display at Lincoln Castle, along with Lincoln BIG’s event programme for the Battle of Lincoln anniversary.
The awards are run by the Association of Community Rail Partnerships (ACoRP) which represents over 80 rail lines and more than 1,300 local groups across the UK. They were set up 13 years ago the ceremony highlights the best work across the UK.
