Proposals to build golfing retreat lodges at the Lincoln Golf Centre off Moor Lane in Thorpe on the Hill have been approved by North Kesteven District Council.

The green light came despite a number of objections, including from Thorpe on the Hill Parish Council, on the grounds of a potential increase in traffic, noise levels and a “danger of golf balls falling on occupants from the nearby driving range”.

The lodges would be located adjacent to the driving range off Moore Lane.

Some 19 lodges on unused leisure land adjacent to the golf centre would be built on a strip of land to the north of an adjacent golf driving range.

Designs for the new lodges

Applicants said in the proposal’s design and access statement: “The principle behind this proposal is to provide a low density, quality holiday retreat site with an emphasis on golf and ecology, and one which is integrated into the surrounding environment with appropriate landscaping.”

Plans were approved with 15 committee members voting in favour of the plans, one voting against and two abstaining on the evening of Tuesday, October 10.
