Temporary lights and road closures for Skegness junction resurfacing

Temporary lights and road closures will be in place for another two weeks as a Skegness junction is resurfaced.

Work on the junction of the A52, A158 and B1451 started on Wednesday, October 4, and are expected to last until Friday, October 20.

The B1451 Castleton Boulevard will be fully closed until Monday, October 16, including weekends, for the first phase of works.

Temporary three-way traffic lights will be in place at the junction of the A158 and A52.

Diversions will be via the A52 Roman Bank, Lumley Road and Grand Parade.

The final surfacing works will take place at the A52/A158/B1451 junction from Tuesday, October 17 for three evenings with the working hours between 6pm and midnight.

A full closure will be in place, during which the diversion route will be via A52 Roman Bank to Addlethorpe Bypass to A158 to Lincoln Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be being maintained at all times throughout the works.

Councillor Richard Davies, responsible for highways at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “Several areas of carriageway within the centre of Skegness have reached the end of their serviceable life. As a result, we need to resurface them so they remain safe to use.

“We intend to do everything we can to minimise disruption throughout these planned improvements, which is why we’re carrying out the works in the evening outside of summer and school holidays so that traffic flow in Skegness isn’t disrupted during peak visitor dates.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and ask for your patience while these works are being carried out as, once complete, they will prolong the working life of the road while making it safer and smoother for all road users.”
