The family of a Lincoln GP and senior partner who passed away in 2016 have successfully secured the contract for two practices in the city.
The future of Cliff House Medical Practice and its two practices on Burton Road and Gresham Street has been secured and will continue as normal.
Lincolnshire West Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), which commissions the service, announced that Mrs Errum Ansari and Partners had been successful during a competitive tender process.
As a result, the practice was run temporarily from January 2017 by Lincolnshire Community Health Services.
Mrs Ansari and Partners, who include Dr Runa Saha, Dr Ngozi Nwanosike and Dr Rehaan Ansari, will begin running the service from April 1.
The award of the new contract will not affect the day-to-day healthcare patients expect and many of the existing GPs, nursing staff and practice staff will continue to provide their care.
Any patients currently registered and receiving services from Cliff House Medical Practice do not need to do anything and can continue to use the surgery as normal.
Services at Cliff House Medical Practice will now continue to be delivered as usual from both its Burton Road and Gresham Street practices.
Errum Ansari said: “The partners and I are very pleased to have been successful through this extensive tendering process.
“We will continue to provide excellent service and good quality medical care to our patients. We would like to thank the wider community for their immense support during this very difficult and sad time.
“Patients, staff, GP colleagues, the CCG and other health care professionals have all been extremely helpful in offering support on many different levels, and to be a part of such a network is a huge privilege.”
Sarah Jane-Mills, Chief Operating Officer at Lincolnshire West CCG, said: “We are delighted to be able to award this contract to Mrs Ansari and Partners after what has been an understandably tough time for both staff and patients.
“We are very pleased to be able to announce that services will continue to be provided from both of the practice’s sites which is something patients told us during our consultation was very important to them and we made sure their views were reflected in the contract specifications.”
She added: “We must also thank Lincolnshire Community Health Services who looked after the service since the tragic passing of Dr Shahid Ansari and we are pleased that Mrs Ansari will be able to carry on his hard work and care for the patients registered at Cliff House Medical Practice.”
