Police step up patrols after alleged sexual assault near Grimsby college

Additional police officers will be on patrol in the Westwood Ho area of Grimsby to reassure students walking to and from local schools and colleges after a recent alleged sexual attack on a 17-year-old girl.

As previously reported the victim reported she was grabbed from behind by an unknown man in his 30s, who is said to have touched her inappropriately before fleeing the area.

He was described as having a “deep raspy voice” as she was walking along a cut-through between Westward Ho and Littlefield Lane, which runs alongside Birkwood Medical Centre.

He was reportedly white, in his 30s, five foot eight, of skinny build and of scruffy appearance.

He wore a black beanie hat, grey jogging bottoms and grey shoes with white soles, and his trousers were tucked into his socks.

Detective Inspector Rhod Troake said: “We believe this is an isolated incident, but we will have additional officers in the area over the coming days to reassure students and parents.

“We would like to thank all those who have come forward with information so far and we are continuing to investigate the circumstances.
