Man who ploughed into parked cars on Cleethorpes street fined

Convicted in his absence.

A man who smashed his car into parked vehicles on a street in Cleethorpes has been fined in court.

James Baker, 24, of Elenor Street, Grimsby, was filmed on CCTV ploughing into the cars on Barcroft Street, Cleethorpes on April 19, 2017.

The dramatic footage showed the red Peugeot 308 car hitting a silver car at speed before ricocheting into three other vehicles.

He, along with two passengers and a dog, were then seen fleeing the scene.

Baker was found guilty of driving without due care and attention, failing to stop and failing to report an accident, as well has having no license or insurance.

He was fined £240, ordered to pay £400 compensation, given a one year community order and banned from driving for two years.

He was convicted in his absence at Grimsby Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
