Lincoln school celebrates sporting superstars

Sprinting ahead

A school in Lincoln is celebrating after its pupils won three quarters of all the sporting leagues they entered.

Branston Community Academy, formerly Branston Secondary Modern, has won all rounders leagues for the past two years within every age group, as well as all tennis leagues since 2015.

In addition, students at the school also topped eight out of the ten Netball leagues they were a part of.

The incredible achievements come just after 12-year-old Maitiu Clarke swept the board at the East Midlands Regional Swimming Championships; picking up medals in all the eight races he entered.

“We are proud and delighted with the success we have had with our sports teams at the school,” said Head of Physical Education at the school, Jonathan Foot.

“We have worked very hard to become the most successful overall school for sporting success in Lincoln and Gainsborough. We currently enter more school leagues than any other school and have won the majority of the those we entered.

“It’s a brilliant achievement and students, staff and parents are thrilled with the success. It is a testimony to the fantastic pupils we have at the academy.”
