New homes plan for Scunthorpe

The site was already sold by the council for housing.

Proposals have been submitted for an 18 home residential development in Scunthorpe.

Applicants Keystone Architecture have lodged the plans for land off The Link in Ashby.

The site was recently sold by North Lincolnshire Council for use for housing.

Planning permission is being sought to build a development of 18 two and three bedroom properties.

The proposed site sits across from the Ashby Link building and to the south of newly built sheltered accommodation in the area.

The applicant said that the development would offer much needed market affordable housing for the area.

Access to the site would be made through an adopted road and junction plan agreed with the council’s highways department.

In a design and access statement, the developer said that the site is well suited for housing.

They said: “The site was chosen due to its sustainable central location in Ashby, adjacent to services and employment.

“It is not designated for any other alternative use, and was sold by the local authority for use for residential purposes, subject to planning permission.

“The site is vacant and although could lend itself to another commercial use, the site is also very much suited for well designed, market affordable housing, such as that proposed.”
