Two artificial 3G pitches proposed for Lincoln

The plans are open to public consultation

Plans for two new 3G artificial football pitches in the north and south of Lincoln are currently being considered by the city council.

The new pitches would be built at the Yarborough and Birchwood Leisure Centres, giving all-weather provisions to players in and around the city, if plans are approved.

As previously reported both Yarborough and Birchwood Leisure Centres have undergone refurbishments.

The improvements would include new lighting at both pitches as well as a new running track and surface for the existing all-weather pitch at Yarborough Leisure Centre.

Assistant Director for Health and Environment Services at City of Lincoln Council Simon Colburn said: “As part of the council’s commitment to promoting healthy, active lifestyles in Lincoln, we are excited to be working on two great improvements at our Leisure Centres.

“The new artificial pitches will allow players of all ages to enjoy football all-year-round, and the new running track at Yarborough Leisure Centre will ensure the local athletic stars of the future can train in the best possible environment.”

The plans are open to public consultation online until May 31 and people can also have their say in person at Yarborough Leisure Centre on Monday, May 21 and at Birchwood Leisure Centre on Tuesday, May 29.
