Ingoldmells takeaway closes after zero hygiene rating

Customers didn’t rate it either

A takeaway in Ingoldmells has shut down after receiving a ‘zero’ hygiene rating after an inspection last month.

A spokesperson for East Lindsey District Council confirmed the vendors left Fantasy Fish Bar & Grill, located on the Old Garage at The Mastins Corner Complex in Ingoldmells, after inspectors visited the premises on May 2 2018.

The council confirmed the premises is now closed/vacant and is being closely monitored by its environmental health team.

Inspectors deemed major improvement necessary with ‘hygienic food handling’ and the ‘management of food safety’ after the visit, while improvement was also required with the ‘cleanliness and condition of facilities and building’.

Two of the latest three reviews of the takeaway on Just Eat – in April and May – rated it as two stars or less out of six with customers very disappointed with the food.

One annoyed customer, Sarah, wrote: “Awful food. Frozen chips were undercooked. Fish wasn’t fresh. Order wasn’t delivered in full. Portion sizes were tiny. Very unhappy and still hungry customers.”

Another frustrated customer, Jessica, rated it as just two stars, adding: “Timing was alright but the food was vile! I ordered kebab and chips, the chips were fine, but the kebab tasted like cardboard!

“When I asked for a refund they refused my refund because I said I had passed it around because I wanted to make sure it wasn’t just me that thought it tasted wrong, and they said they wouldn’t refund anything because the food had been touched.

“They said very rudely ‘I don’t understand why it tastes as bad as your making out because it’s fresh off the kebab machine’ when everyone else I was with who are chefs has said it was left in the pot to keep warm for ages. I’m disgusted with the service of this place and shall not be returning at all!”
