Lincoln Cathedral gets ready for The King film

We go behind the scenes

Lights, camera, action! Lincoln Cathedral is in the spotlight as film crews prepare to shoot Netflix period movie The King.

Preparations are well underway to get Lincoln Cathedral ready for the first day of filming on Monday, 25 June.

The Medieval film lists Brad Pitt as a producer and will star Academy Award nominee Timothée Chamalet, Golden Globe nominee Joel Edgerton, as well as Robert Pattinson (Twilight series) and Lily-Rose Depp (daughter of Johnny Depp).

Signs appeared earlier this month on Castle Hill, between the city’s castle and cathedral, to explain that street furniture was being removed to make way for filming.

The period film is set for a 2019 release on Netflix.

Last month, scouts put out a casting call for Lincoln people to play extras in the movie, so there could even be a few familiar faces to look out for in the final cut!
