Man released after Lincoln armed police raid

No further action will be taken against him

A man arrested after reports of a person with a handgun in Lincoln has been released and no further action will be taken against him, police said.

As previously reported, police raided a Lincoln property on Ruston Way shortly before 7.45pm on Sunday, June 24 and an eyewitness told The Lincolnite that the road was closed for some time.

Michael Vanderson said he had seen police arrive overnight, followed by armed officers and police dogs.

Tactical support teams returned to the scene on the morning of Monday, June 25.

Officers were also seen going in and out of the property filling in paperwork.

A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm, but police have since confirmed “the man has been released and we are taking no further action against him.”

The arrest comes just weeks after an arrest and raid on the same street in connection with a burglary in Workop, executed by Nottinghamshire Police.

Lincolnshire Police have now confirmed that the two incidents are not related.
