Firefighters battle Grimsby blaze for hours

There were no injuries

Humberside Fire & Rescue rushed to the scene and spent several hours extinguishing a fire at a pallet yard just off the A180 in Grimsby overnight.

The incident was reported to Humberside Fire & Rescue at around 12.50am on Friday, July 27, with crews working in ‘some very warm conditions’.

There were no injuries.

Initially four crews from Grimsby and Immingham were on site and they were later joined by fire services from Brigg and Immingham East, with the last two crews leaving at 6.30am.

A spokesperson for Humberside Fire & Rescue told Lincolnshire Reporter that two ground monitors, six handheld jets, two 45mm jets and two hose reels were used to extinguish the fire, which was all under control by around 6.30am.

The fire investigation team and the fire dog from Humberside Fire & Rescue are currently on site meeting with local police to try and establish the circumstances of the incident.

Humberside Police were contacted by reporters for further information, but a response was not available at the time of publishing.
