Skegness beach party cancelled due to storm threat

“We cannot take any risks”

A summer beach party in Skegness has been cancelled due to overnight thunderstorms and the threat of more bad weather later on Friday.

The Visit Lincs Coast Summer Beach Party was due to take place on the central promenade in Skegness on the evening of Friday, July 27, but it has now been cancelled on health and safety grounds.

A post on the Visit Lincs Coast Facebook page read: “Due to the overnight thunderstorms and the current threat of more storms later on today (July 27) we have made the difficult decision to cancel tonight’s Summer Beach Party on health and safety grounds.

“Due to the potential lightening during the event, we cannot take any risks that may impact on the safety of the public or anybody part of the event.

“We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
