Detective Sergeant Paul Nicholson from Scunthorpe CID said: “This was a vicious and unprovoked attack carried out by three men on one victim who was going about his daily work.

“Following a period in hospital, he has been left with life changing injuries which include the loss of sight in one eye and a metal plate in his head.

“I want to find the men in the images. This was fortunately an isolated incident and I want to reassure the local community again of that. Please call us with any information you may have.”

Police are keen to speak with the driver of a white car – possibly a small Ford or Toyota – who was driving in the area at the time and may have seen something.

Anyone walking along the road at the time or who witnessed anything should contact police on 101 quoting reference number 16/43406/18.

It can also be reported anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
