Sincil Drain volunteers clear up more city rubbish

Around 15 volunteers took part in the clean-up

World Cup fever was gripping the county over the weekend, but around 15 volunteers took time out to clear up litter, cans and other debris in Lincoln’s waterways.

As previously reported, a group of volunteers were hard at work clearing up Lincoln’s waterways over the Royal Wedding weekend in May and they have now been back out again.

The Sincil Drain Rivercare Clean-up took place on Saturday, July 7 around Sincil Drain, Sewells Walk and the surrounding area.

The litter pick was supported by a team from Tesco, who also provided refreshments, Ward County Councillor Julie Killey and a representative from Keep Britain Tidy.

Active support was also given by Alice Carter, who is the Sincil Bank Community Organiser from LCFC Set.

Nick Rawsthorne said: “All these volunteers, advisors and supporters deserve your recognition and applause.

“If you wish to help us you are very welcome. Please contact Barbara Gooding by messaging her. No offer to help is turned away and is received gratefully.”
