Frecklington handed Imps’ captain armband

Frecklington replaces the recently departed Luke Waterfall

Lee Frecklington will take over as club captain of his hometown club Lincoln City after the recent departure of former skipper Luke Waterfall.

As previously reported, Waterfall left the Imps to join Shrewsbury this week after just one game of the new League Two season.

The 32-year-old, who came through the Academy at Lincoln and made his first team debut in February 2005, rejoined the club in January 2018 after having been captain at Rotherham.

Frecklington quickly made his mark on his second spell with the Imps after scoring on his second Lincoln debut against Notts County.

The midfielder scored three times in 17 appearances in the second half of the 2017/18 season, including against county rivals Grimsby.
