Popular tea room earns top award with new owners

The new owners took over just three months ago

Bunty’s Tea Room on Steep Hill has been given a gold award after its new owners took over just three months ago.

The future looked uncertain for the 1940s inspired tea room after Bunty’s former owners decided to sell up shop.

Since taking over in May, the new owner has taken the tea room from strength to strength.

Bunty’s Tea Room was nominated anonymously and then awarded the honour by Lincolnshire Today to recognise its “outstanding quality and service.”

Faye Gault, owner of Bunty’s Tea Room, said: “I was expecting to open some new decorations when the postman gave us the award.

“I almost spat out my tea when I opened the award and realised what it was. We had no idea, it was really exciting.”

The tea room can fill up quickly over the weekend, with the owner calling it the “Bunty’s flurry,” but Faye says that people are happy to wait for the experience.

Faye added: “It has always been my dream to open a tea room. I love to bake and create and I have always been a people person. Our customers know that I love to have a chat with everyone.

“I couldn’t do it without my amazing staff, my loving husband and wonderful children. People are already talking about Bunty’s, but we are working to get it on the map.”
