Scunthorpe dental practice in line for hotel makeover

Expanding the guest accommodation scene in Scunthorpe

Plans have been submitted to turn a former Scunthorpe dental practice into an 11 bedroom hotel.

Keystone Architecture have lodged the proposals for the building on Wells Street in an effort to provide affordable guest accommodation in the area.

The application seeks permission to change the use of the former practice to provide bedrooms and en-suite space.

A total of 11 bedrooms would be created along with seven en-suites, a kitchen, living area and a shared bathroom on the second floor.

It comes as North Lincolnshire Council last year carried out a study to see if more hotel accommodation was required in the region.

The applicant said that the plan would help to bring the derelict building into good use and support local shops as well as having a positive effect on the wider area.

In a design and access statement, they added that the hotel will also improve the street scene in the Crosby area.

It said: “The proposals will improve the existing street scene as the proposed works will involve the redevelopment of a presently vacant property.

“It will have a positive impact on the vicinity and provide additional support to the local amenities, whilst providing much needed guest accommodation in the area.”
