JYSK to relocate to “bigger and better” Lincoln home

It will open in Spring 2019

Furniture store JYSK is relocating from St Marks to a brand new, bigger and better store for Lincoln next year.

The Danish-owned global furniture shop chose Lincoln as the location for one of its first UK stores, but St Marks is set to soon be redeveloped into student accommodation, parking, new shops and leisure spaces.

The new store will open at a purpose built site on Deacon Road near to the Carlton Centre in Spring 2019.

All of the Lincoln store’s staff will re-locate to the new store.

Country Manager for JYSK David Ashton said: “As soon as we became aware that our existing Lincoln location was up for redevelopment we set ourselves on a mission to find a new one – for us leaving this city was simply not an option.

“We are delighted to be opening at a new purpose built site on Deacon Road, near to the Carlton Centre and brand new Lidl – opportunities to take advantage of a great city-central retail location are rare for Lincoln. It is a fresh start for JYSK in the city, and we will completely update the look and feel of the store.

“We hope for a smooth transition from one site to the other – potentially just with a month or so closure between – depending on the new site build schedule. The changeover will be Spring 2019.”

The west section of St Marks would be flattened and replaced with new housing, leisure facilities and shops. The Jyks store here will close.

The UK’s first Concept 3.0 store opened this summer in Doncaster and delivered a record-breaking Grand Opening Weekend sales performance.

Lincoln and a new Concept 3.0 store for Derby early in the New Year, will follow as the company celebrates its 40th birthday.
