Second person dies after A17 crash

A second person has lost their life following a crash with a van on the A17.

A second person has died following a serious crash on the A17 last month, police have confirmed.

As reported previously, four people were injured in the crash on Wednesday, August 29. Two suffered minor injuries and two women in their 80s were rushed to hospital in a serious condition.

The collision involved a silver Citroen Xsara and a white Merecedes Benz van.

All those injured had been travelling in the Citroen.

Mary Bernadette Blades, 84, from the Spalding area died in the days following the crash.

Weeks on, a second casualty, an 83-year-old woman, has also died.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said: “The Investigating Officer continues to appeal for witnesses to the collision which happened outside the Ivy Plant Shop on A17 at Swineshead at 12.15 midday.

“We would like to speak to the driver of a silver or light coloured tanker that we believe was travelling along the A17 in the location at the time of the crash.

“The driver of the tanker may be a witness and was not involved in the collision in any way.

“If you have any information please call on 101 quoting incident 186 of August 29.”
