Approval expected for 174 Bourne homes

The council is set to approve the plans

Councillors in South Kesteven are expected to give the go ahead for 174 homes in Bourne.

The plans submitted by Taylor Wimpy would see the development built on Elsea Park. Off the A151 near the town.

South Kesteven District Council initially gave outline approval for the site back in 2001.

The proposal would see a mixture of two-storey homes built, including two, three, four and five bedroom houses.

A cycleway and play area are also proposed under the plans.

The Elsea Park masterplan in Bourne which is earmarked for housing developments.

The Elsea Park area has already seen around 280 homes given the go ahead.

Council officers have recommended that members of the planning committee approve the proposals.

Councillors on the authority will make a decision at a meeting on October 16.

The developer said that the application would provide “much-needed” homes for Bourne and that it would benefit the wider community.

A Taylor Wimpey spokesperson said: “We have prepared a high-quality planning application to provide much-needed new two, three, four and five-bedroom homes, including affordable housing, for the local area.

“Should the development receive planning consent, public open space will be provided as well as a cycleway and play equipment, for the benefit of new residents and the wider community.”
