Lincoln cafe closing, but new plans “in the works”

They blamed high overheads

A cafe on Boultham Park Road will close its doors this weekend, but the owners said they already have new plans in the pipeline.

Up the Junxion, which is located next to the Co-op, will close on Sunday, October 28 with high overheads meaning it was no longer viable to keep trading, but the cafe team will re-open again as something new in the coming weeks.

On its Facebook page the cafe said: “Up the Junxion – it’s been one heck of a ride, plenty of fun along the way with plenty of laughs, some ups and some downs, we’ve met some brilliant people, our customers and our regulars.

“Myself and Luke would just like to say a very big thank you to the team as we started the café from nothing, from scratch – that is Julie, Jude, Barry and Amy.

“A few things I know for sure is that the team have produced some great tasting home-cooked food and all with a fantastic service. We have all most definitely tried since opening and that cannot be taken away from us – so again well done to the team.

“Unfortunately, and there is no point in covering it in fancy white icing – the overheads to keep the business afloat are just too high and it has become no longer viable to keep trading as we are.

“This decision doesn’t come lightly but sometimes you have to admit defeat.

“You have to try things in life – sometimes they work out amazingly well and sometimes not but you must always give things a go. We wish all the team at Up the Junxion good luck in their own next chapter. We have a new idea in the works, so watch this space – thank you.”
