Police name man accused of Lincoln firearms incident

Armed police recovered the weapon

Police have named a man who faces firearms charges after an armed police ‘standoff’ in Lincoln last week.

Sunny Johnson, 33, of Woodhall Drive, Lincoln, appeared at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, charged with possession of a firearm in a public place.

He was remanded in custody.

A second man arrested in connection with the incident has been released under investigation.

As reported at the time, the two men were arrested by armed police during the incident in the Brant Road area of the city on the afternoon of Thursday, September 27.

Officers and police dogs rushed to Parker Avenue and neighbours watched on. One reportedly heard shouts of “get down on the floor.”

Police recovered the firearm and reassured people that there was no ongoing threat to the public.
