Train station Costa Coffee won’t open until next year

It will open next year after several months of delays

A Costa Coffee will open at the train station next year, after several months of delays.

Plans for the new café were submitted in February and works were set to be completed in summer.

It was part of the £2 million refurbishment of Lincoln Central railway station, which has seen a new waiting room, ticket barriers, bike shop and storage in recent months.

The station’s revival was said to be on track, but development of the city’s seventh Costa seems to have gone off the rails.

A spokesperson for East Midlands Trains told The Lincolnite: “We are now doing more than originally planned to include some of the heritage works and is therefore taking a bit longer.

“The renovation work on the café is expected to start before Christmas and will likely be open in the new year.”

A temporary café is currently operating at the station under the brand of cafeexpress, but it will be closed near the end of the year.
