Cherry Willingham marina with 155 homes set for approval

Proposals are expected to get the green light from the council

Councillors in West Lindsey are expected to approve plans for a 220 berth marina, 155 homes and businesses in Cherry Willingham.

The application submitted by Dean Sempers of DAS Services would see the marina and homes built on land at Eastfield Rise Farm, off Fiskerton Road.

Dubbed the Willingham Fen Marina, full planning permission is being sought for the marina while outline plans have been lodged for housing.

West Lindsey District Council’s planning committee will decide on the plans on November 14.

It follows revised proposals being resubmitted to the authority.

Now, planning officers at the council have recommended that the plans be approved.

The applicant is seeking permission for the construction of a new 220 berth marina with workshops, cafe or bistro, showers and toilet facilities.

Further plans include footpaths and cycleways and change of use to public open space with heritage information on display.

Previous proposals included a hotel and holiday lodge accommodation and is was estimated that the development would contribute in excess of £3 million to the local economy.

However, developers said in their new plans that previous proposals “were not viable” and would not cover the capital investment.

Now, Mr Sempers has said that the homes included in the proposal are the “only realistic enabler” for the site.
