New late night Thursday bus service in Lincoln

It will start next week

A new late night Thursday bus service will start next week in plenty time for the Christmas rush.

Route numbers 7 and 8 on the Simplibus service will provide residents living in the Ermine estate area further options for travel during the festive season, with regular services running until 11.30pm up until Christmas.

The late night service on a Thursday evening starts from November 29. This is in addition to late night services on Friday and Saturday nights, which were introduced over the summer.

The 7 and 8 services operate every 30 minutes from the bus station in the city centre to Ermine East and West Estates plus the Bailgate area.

The extended services will continue every hour, 7pm-11pm on service 7, and every hour 7.30pm-11.30pm on service 8 throughout Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

The late night services on a Thursday will give more choice to those wanting to take advantage of late night shopping and nights out in town.

Matt Cranwell, Managing Director at Stagecoach East Midlands, said: “With traffic and congestion already an issue in the city centre and with Christmas just around the corner, we wanted to provide a simple option for travelling in and out of the city centre.

“The new Thursday late night service from the Ermine estates will compliment the Friday and Saturday night services that have proved popular with residents.”
