Plans to bring the former club back to life

Boston Borough Council has approved plans to change a former social club into a new bar and restaurant.

Plans submitted by Fancy Lounge Ltd will see the former Railway Social Club, Sleaford Road, converted in a move that will create 23 jobs.

The building has been closed for more than four years and has since been taken over by the developer.

Now, Fancy Lounge owners have said they want to bring the former club back to life.

The plan will see the bar and restaurant offer food and drink Monday to Sunday from 10am until midnight.

The company said in its plans that it will carry out a £280,000 refurbishment of the building.

This will include a new beer garden which will be built as part of an extension.

The developer said the plan will help to refurbish the former club which has brought “many happy memories” to the town.

It said: “Fancy Lounge will focus on serving excellent food and a fine selection of beverages attracting families, young professionals, and adults to enjoy a fully refurbished iconic building the centre of the town.

“The building has created many happy memories, however it has not been used for over four years.

“Once open, Fancy Lounge will employ an exceptional management team to create a safe and enjoyable atmosphere creating over 23 jobs to local people.

“We would like to offer apprenticeships as well as working with external services locally to create further jobs and work experience.”
