Weather update: Ice and freezing fog forecast

Freezing fog is expected to form across England

The Met Office has extended its warning for ice across Lincolnshire, with freezing fog also forecast.

A second snow and ice warning was previously issued for the entire county between 3pm on Thursday, January 31 and midday on Friday, February 1.

The Met Office has since released a warning for ice and fog on Wednesday, which will be in place between 10pm through to 11am on Thursday.

Forecasters say areas of freezing fog will form across England on Wednesday evening and be slow to clear the following morning.

It is expected to be a very cold night across England with areas of freezing fog and very poor visibility in places (perhaps below 100m), with Lincolnshire among the regions affected.

Slower journey times with delays to bus and train services are possible. There is also a chance of delays or cancellations to flights.

Forecasters warn there will probably be ice on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths. Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces are to be expected.
