Kirton developers set sights on 139-home “southern phase”

The developers already have permission for 105-homes to the north

Developers wanting to complete a major development in Kirton have submitted plans for the 139-home southern phase.

Ashwood Homes has already been given permission to build the 105 homes which form the northern section of the London Road development.

The latest plans will include 21 affordable homes – split between 15 rented and six shared ownership.

A report to the council details how the developers said they have paid particular attention to providing a mix of house designs, with generous parking kept “away from the street scene where possible”.

The area Ashwood Homes’ plans will cover once both developments are complete.

The objectives, they said, were “to create an attractive, sustainable development and community that enhances this area of Kirton.”

They said the development would have “good connectivity to the local area” and encourage walking and cycling.

Approving the previous application officers noted the number of affordable homes (21) and said the house designs provided an “attractive form of development”.

They said: “The layout and the design of the dwellings is such that it will not cause harm to the general character and appearance of the area.”

When finished both sites will be accessed from London Road, with a further connection between them created elsewhere in the site.
