Man dies in crash near Newark

Police are appealing for witnesses

An elderly man has died after crashing into a wall near Newark.

The 78-year-old had been driving a silver Volkswagen Golf estate when he crashed into a wall over Car Dyke on Main Street, Upton.

The collision happened at around 4pm on Wednesday, February 13.

He was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham for treatment, but died in hospital on Wednesday, February 20.

Officers from Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are making enquiries and are continuing to offer support to the man’s family following the incident.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or believes they may have dashcam footage of the incident is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 595 of February 13 2019.
