North Hykeham buses won’t stop at Asda anymore

Traffic congestion and delays are blamed

Lincoln buses will stop serving the Asda lay-by in North Hykeham from this weekend.

Stagecoach services 15 and 16 will stop serving the dedicated stop near the entrance to the Asda store off Newark Road from Sunday, February 24.

This is due to increasing traffic congestion along Newark Road and delays at Asda roundabout whilst entering or leaving the store’s roundabout.

However, the bus service will continue to use both stops on Newark Road close to the Asda petrol station and the police station. Evening journeys will also be slightly revised.

Andy Smith, Commercial Manager South at Stagecoach East Midlands, said: “It is with regret that we’ve had to make this decision due to increasing traffic congestion along Newark Road and delays at the Asda roundabout whilst entering or leaving the store.

“Unfortunately without any bus priority in this area it has become increasingly difficult to maintain a regular and reliable bus service for those customers who rely on the bus for their travel requirements.

“The daytime timetable remains unchanged, however there are a few minor amendments to the later evening services departing from Hykeham.”
