Your guide to the 2019 Lincoln 10K

Multiple road closures will be in place as the Asda Foundation City of Lincoln 10K prepares to celebrate its 23rd year.

Thousands of runners are expected to compete in the 2019 event which starts at 11am on Sunday, April 7.

There will also be a free Mini and Junior event. The 1.5K Mini Fun Run is for children aged three to eight and starts at 11am.

The 2.5K Junior Fun Run is for youngsters aged 9-14. The 5K Junior run is open for children aged 11-15. These two both start at 11.30am. All three start at Yarborough leisure centre – for more information click here.

Heavy snowfall forced organisers to postpone the Lincoln 10K road race scheduled to take place on March 17, 2018. Junior and mini races still went ahead.

Around 5,000 runners returned to complete the re-arranged event in sweltering conditions in July 2018.

Road closures

In accordance with the City of Lincoln Council an order has been made prohibiting and restricting the use of certain roads and junctions by vehicles.

The event will also also require the suspension of a number of Traffic Regulation Orders between 4pm on Saturday, April 6 until the same time on Sunday, April 7.

The Route

The route starts at Yarborough Leisure Centre before passing the cathedral, university campus and Roman Walls.

It finishes on Northgate. Runners will be led from Northgate to Eastgate and then into St Paul’s Car Park/Westgate 1 East Car Park.

Race Entry

Entries are open for this year’s event. Entrants must be 15 years or over on event day. People of all abilities can take part.

Anyone who has not already registered can sign up between March 28 and the Friday of event week. Anyone doing so will need to collect their race number from the Race Office during the event weekend.

Parking

Parking locations will be allocated to individual bib numbers.

  • 1-6000 – Yarborough Leisure Centre Playing Fields, Breedon Drive
  • 6001+ – Sudbrooke Drive Playing Field
  • Burton Road will be closed from 10.40am so you will not be able to access parking after this time
  • Riseholme Road will be closed from 5.30am but the lane to enter this car park will remain open
  • Parkking signage will be displayed over the event weekend
  • The drop-off point for participants is at The Lincoln Imp just off Riseholme Road and Scopwick Place located on Blankney Crescent

  • Water Stations  with bottled water provided by the Asda Foundation
  • Support & Entertainment with a variety of performers on hand to motivate runners around the course
  • First Aid – personnel will be on hand to help at regular intervals on the course with fixed stations located near the water stations. There will also be a first aid unit and recovery area located near the finish
  • Food and drink – Number of bars and cafes in the area will welcome spectators and participants

The event’s official partner charities are Jane Tomlinson Appeal, St Barnabas Hospice, Macmillan Cancer Support, Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance, Brainstrust, Lincoln and South Lincolnshire Age UK, homelessness charity Leap, Sophie’s Journey and the chosen charities of the Mayor of Lincoln, Coun Paul Weaver – Lincoln Sea Cadets and Bracebridge Boxing Club.
