Ram raiders leave trail of destruction at local food store

Significant damage was caused to the premises

A gaping hole was left in the side of the building when an ATM was stolen during a ram raid at a Lincolnshire Co-op food store.

As previously reported, police were called to the Lincolnshire Co-op Foodstore on High Street in Scotter at 2.34am on Monday, April 8.

A video from the BBC shows the extent of the damage with a big hole in the side of the wall. There was also an area taped off while builders worked on site, placing a wooden board in part of the hole.

An ATM was stolen and it is believed a silver Ford Transit van and a tele handler were used.

This caused significant damage to the premises. A digger was left behind at the scene.

The van, with the ATM still inside, was found abandoned just over an hour later in Burringham. No-one has been arrested, police said.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage should contact Lincolnshire Police on 101 quoting incident 26 of April 8.
